Lake Weir is just 37 minutes to Ocala and 60 miles from Orlando's notable theme parks including Universal Studios and Walt Disney World.

The body of water is located in Central Florida in Marion County and is conveniently accessible to East Highway 25 and I-441.

Lake Weir Covers More Than 5,000 Acres

The lake covers 5,658 acres with a maximum depth of 34 feet. On average, Lake Weir's depth is about 15 feet.

The Lake Weir Association manages the lake and preserves its conditions.

The bottom of the lake is predominately sand. All water sports can be enjoyed around the entire lake.

Things To Do at The Lake

Lake Weir is the perfect lake for families to enjoy boating, camping and sports. Eaton's Sandbar and Grill and Gator Joe's Beach Bar and Grill are located at opposite ends of the lake, but both offers fantastic seafood in a lakefront setting.

Ocala National Forest Park is located just 30 minutes northeast of the lake and contains many of Florida's largest lakes and hiking trails.

Popular campgrounds near the lake are located at Ocala National Forest Park including Lake Waldena Resort, Nelson's Outdoor Resort and Doe Lake Campground.

Lake Weir hosts the Lake Weir Raft Race every year, where teams build their own rafts and row their watercrafts for the best time and/or best decorated.

Fun and Fishing

Hope Boat Ramp and Carney Island are the only public boat ramps available here. Popular fish caught in the lake are largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie and shellcrackers.
